Canadians online are in fury at Carney’s comments: “Muslim values are Canadian values”

Canadians are taking to social media to troll and spread their disapproval of Mark Carney’s recent comments about Muslim Canadians celebrating Eid.
During a speech at the Muslim Association of Canada, Carney said, “We can pray differently, we can gather in different places of worship, but all of us must come together around the values of Eid.” Carney continued by saying, “The values of community, of generosity, and yes, of sacrifice — these are Muslim values; these are Canadian values.”. Although Muslims at the event reacted positively, the remainder of Canadians responded negatively.
“Carney needs to ask his wife and daughters of which one is transgender how they feel about their safety with Sharia Law. My God Carney, get back to your bank teller position you are truly not Canadian.” one comment said. “I wonder if the PM will say that Canadians must come together around the values of Easter, and that Christian values are Canadian values. I won’t hold my breath. Islamic culture is not compatible with that of western democracies. This pandering needs to stop.” said another.
