Canada Ambassador: Trump’s administration hasn’t promised that Canada’s border plan will help avoid the tariffs

Canada’s ambassador to the U.S. has stated that Canada’s new border plans haven’t guaranteed Trump’s refusal to implement tariffs.
“We’ve done some really great things on the border, which is what the incoming administration asked of us, and they’ve given us very good feedback on that. I know that that plan has been presented to the president, but we have not received an assurance. So we’re going to have to wait and see,” said Kirsten Hillman Canada’s ambassador to the U.S. The Canadian government called for $1.3 billion in its fall economic statement to spend on beefing up border security, and yet Trump hasn’t called off the tariff plan. Hillman calls for Canadians to be calm, yet has provided us with no solution. Hillman says the Canadian government is still working on the issue, but hasn’t provided any concrete details. Canadians are left in limbo, not knowing what the future will hold.
