“There’s a huge gap between what Conservatives say and what Conservatives do….. And I just don’t see any government in any future getting rid of that (Carbon Tax) — Conservative, Liberal or New Democrat.”. Thats a quote from the once CPC Advisor, Ken Boessenkool, to former Prime Minister Steven Harper.
In fact, Boessenkool’s claim is not without merit. ‘Conservative’ Premiers, Jason Kenney and Danielle Smith both ran on axing the tax to the Carbon tax yet in the end both ended up raising the tax! “Jason Kenney ran on ‘Axe The Tax’ and he beefed up the industrial carbon price in Alberta. Danielle Smith ran on ‘Axe The Tax’ and she not only beefed up the industrial carbon price in Alberta, she said she was going to go to $170 (a tonne).” Boessenkool said. Not only that, but the CPC’s office sent a letter saying that “that’s not what he said” after a Quebec newspaper reported that a Poilievre would end the tax.
The Conservatives not only do not currently have a posted public plan for what they will do if they win. Not only that, they are also going back on a lot of the stuff they preached about, which made Poilievre famous to begin with.
The CPC has no plan to save Canada, and the so-called ideas they have talked about raise many questions. Most famously, with what money will you achieve all that?
The CPC speaks about creating a more affordable Canada, yet keeping the carbon tax in place.
The CPC speaks about putting Canadians first, yet still supports Israel and Ukraine in aid.
The CPC’s UNIParty side is showing, yet the only thing keeping them popular is the fact that they are considered the ‘opposition’.
