A Turkish Aksungur drone has created a persistent presence in Greek skies, spying on Greece. The drone was first spotted in July, around the south east Aegean sea well within the Athens Flight Information Region. The drone is known for its ability to carry out intelligence, surveillance, and even strike missions. Most recently, for three days starting on August 13th, the drone trespassed into Greek skies overseeing wildfires across the country. Greek military officials have become very concerned about the presence of the drone, especially about its ability to carry weapons and strike targets. A Turkish drone, which contains weapons and continues to escalate tensions with Greece, flies over Greek islands and cities, threatening the potential single click of a button into combat against the Greek people. And with that being said, what does the Mitsotakis government do? Nothing! With the continued Turkish advances in these unmanned drones, and the continuation of illegal trespassings, this does nothing but increase tensions in Greco-Turkish relations. Tensions that are once again caused by the Turks.
