Canada gives $1M to WHO in Africa & looks to strengthen African ties

The mainstream media is abuzz with the news of MPOX (monkeypox) spreading through Africa, and Canada’s foreign minister has announced $1 million in aid to help contain the spread of this virus. The funding will unironically go to WHO (World Health Organization) in order to contain the virus spread. The same WHO that led to much of the destruction of lives of the unvaccinated during COVID-19 and the failure to contain the pandemic. The Liberal government, as most of the world, fears a new pandemic resurgent close to the USA elections, but rather than close down the airports and all chances of the illness entering Canada, the government sends Foreign minister Mélanie Joly to oversee the struggle in Ivory Coast. Meanwhile the Liberal government plans to use this oversignment and consultate on an approach towards diplomats in Africa and what issues to focus on. “Canada stands with our African and multilateral partners in their efforts to accelerate the response to the current MPOX outbreak,” says Mélanie Joly. Groups like One Campaign and CUSO International have stated that Canada is losing ground on the international stage. The Liberal government with the help of the visit by Joy, uses this opportunity to create better ties to Africa and create trade.
