Over 800 special ballots in B.C. have been misplaced due to “human error”

According to reports, over 800 special ballots cast during the recent federal election were mistakenly kept at the office of a returning officer in B.C., Elections Canada says.
They also claim that the ballots had no effect on election results, and that this was a mistake due to “human error”.
“My commitment to candidates, political parties and Canadians is that when issues related to the delivery of an election arise, we take all necessary steps to resolve them,” said Chief Electoral Officer Stephane Perrault. This incident may undermine voter confidence, as it raises questions about the integrity and reliability of the electoral process. When mistakes like this occur, it can lead to skepticism and concern among the public regarding the accuracy of election outcomes. And Skepticism has indeed been raised. If mistakes like this can happen, where else might it have happened and who knows just how many have taken place and we just don’t know about?
