Canada, once held the 14th best military force in the world (in 2015), has now dropped so far down to 27th in 2024, and now in 2025 we have dropped down again to 28th. 10 years later, under the Tyranny of Trudeau and the Liberals, Canada’s military has fallen.
Taking a look at military specifics, according to the GFP (Global FirePower) ranking index.
Canada has a total military personnel of 100,500. 68,000 are active personnel. To put that into perspective, countries like Tunisia, Sudan, Nepal, Venezuela, Poland, and Italy all have larger active military personnel than Canada. Canada has 74 tanks, which is smaller than countries like Greece, Israel, Syria, and Ethiopia. The reason for these comparisons is, why is a first world country, NATO ally, and UN peacekeeping country, that involves itself in multiple wars, maintaining such low numbers of military equipment and personnel for its defence? Especially compared to some of these smaller and/or war-torn 3rd world countries. Canada’s navy is the 39th largest, and the airforce being the 29th.
Canada’s overall rank, being now the 28th strongest, is ranked lower than countries like Algeria, Iran, Ukraine, Thailand, and Vietnam. Ukraine especially, it is no surprise that it is higher than Canada, because half of Canada’s military budget is being set over to Ukraine under Trudeau. This significant allocation of resources to Ukraine has strained Canada’s own defense capabilities, leaving its military underfunded and understaffed. The diversion of financial and material support has led to delays in upgrading Canada’s military technology and infrastructure, weakening its ability to respond to potential threats. Furthermore, this focus on international aid has sparked domestic debate over the prioritization of foreign commitments over national security needs. Canada is not focusing on Canada, and there is no one else to blame but those sitting in Parliament right now.
