Equalization payments are once again destroying Canadian Provinces that do the most

Canada’s equalization payments reach a record high, a total of $26.2 billion. This sparks outrage in western Canada, because as they fork out most of the bill, they will be receiving none of those payments!
Canada’s leftist equalization system essentially takes all province taxes collected, puts them into one pot, and distributes them to provinces in need. In most cases, western Canada which tends to outperform the rest of the provinces, and forks most of the bill, tends to receive little to no distribution of these payments. Meanwhile, the separatist province of Quebec gains the most from this system.
‘The current equalization system isn’t fair or sustainable,’ Alberta Premier Smith said on social media. Saskatchawan Premier Scott Moe also had some words to say online, “The federal government has announced equalization payments for 2025 and once again, SK, AB and BC will be helping support the rest of Canada.” with a photo attached below. 61.7% of Albertans want the equalization system to be removed from the constitution, and put in place a more ‘fair’ system. The unequal distribution of equalization payments has significant economic implications for western Canada. Provinces like Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia are left to rely on their own resources, which can strain their budgets and limit potential investments in infrastructure, healthcare, and education. This financial burden can hinder their economic growth and exacerbate regional disparities across the country. This is once again, leftist intervention, and their idea of redistributing wealth to those who do nothing yet gain the most. It is clear that leftist policies, while sometimes appearing to be beneficial to certain segments of the population, ultimately do more harm than good.
