It is planned that Edi Rama, Albania’s Prime Minister, will attend an Albanian festival this Sunday in Thessaloniki, Greece. Greeks are furious about this decision. As some call it, “Mitsotakis ‘opens the door’ for his friend Rama”.
Rama is very much so an Anti-Greek politician, siding with Turkey on international issues, his Anti-Greek rhetoric and political actions, as well as Rama’s political policy going against the interests of Greece. Rama plans to use this gathering as a place to host a rally. A Albanian government rally being held in Greece?
Keep in mind, Greece’s anger does not come without a reason. As it is Albania that controls Greece’s northern part of Epirus. Albania that treats Greeks in North Epirus as 2nd class citizens, Albanians that killed Greek soldier(Kostandinos Kacifa) living in Albania. And in recent months, it is Albania that imprisons a Greek elected mayor in North Epirus.
“Declaring pride for Albania and for the Albanians living in Greece, Edi Rama comes again with the government’s permission to organize a rally in Thessaloniki. His presence only after the persecution of Hellenism in Northern Epirus, his association with any anti-Hellenic initiative (relations with Erdogan), the imprisonment of Beler and the establishment of a municipal authority in accordance with his views is a challenge. He, his politics and those who support him are absolutely undesirable. The National Front calls for an end to tolerance towards Tirana” said the Greek National Front, which will be hosting it’s protests against Rama.
