24 Liberal MPs attempted to speak with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in order to convince him to step down. Trudeau himself announced today that he would not be stepping down, and that his caucus is strong and supportive. “As a party, we’ve always had robust discussions about the best way forward. We’ll continue to have them with me as leader,”.
After the talk with the MPs, Trudeau said he would “reflect” on the criticism, and 24-hours later, he came up with his answer of doubling down, and refused to step down. Liberal MPS see Trudeau remaining in power as an easy victory for the CPC, but Trudeau believes that him remaining in power will continue the fight and prevent any CPC win.
“We’re going to have great discussions about how I can best lead the Liberal Party forward with measures to counter the disinformation and misinformation Pierre Poilievre is putting forward.”
