Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault confirmed in a statement that the Federal government has “no intention” of pausing the upcoming raise in the carbon tax.
“So, we need to keep acting, because otherwise we’ll never see the end of it.” said Steven Guilbeault. Canada needs to ‘keep acting’ on making life more unaffordable for Canadians? According to CTV News, the carbon price previously increased from $65 per tonne to $80 per tonne, resulting in an additional 3.3 cents per litre at the pump. Now the government plans to raise it an additional $15 until it reaches its goal of $170 by 2030.
This is the same Carbon tax that the CPC doesn’t wish to say they will remove. And so the cost will continue to rise, and Canadians will continue to feel the pinch in their pockets.
