CCP’s ownership of Piraeus is destroying Greece

Seeing the consequences of foreign influence in Greece once again result in bad outcomes, this time in Piraeus. One of Europe’s largest ports in the Mediterranean was acquired by the CCP’s (Communist China) state-owned company, China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO) back in 2016. Currently the company owns 67% of the Greek port, and concerns have now arisen across Europe. Several criminal groups allegedly use the port to smuggle in illegal contraband and commit numerous environmental hazards in Greece, leading to increased illegal activity there. Having sold the port, Greece allowed for foreign crime to spike at Greek doorsteps, as well as foreign dominance. COSCO has monopolized the port and has given itself ultimate maritime trade control in the region, which was once held by Greece. The Greek government once again shows its lack of concern for national identity and its own care for national interests. This is nothing new under the Mitsotakis government that has made many different plans in his form of backwards ‘conservative’ privatization. Privatizing schools, yet giving rights not to Greeks and Greek businesses, but to foreigners! In Greece, the threat of foreign takeover continues, and Piraeus is a perfect example, as small Greek businesses are closing because they can’t compete with illegally smuggled goods from the CCP (Chinese-Communist-Party).
