Trudeau’s Liberal government invoking the “emergency act” during the 2022 peaceful truckers’ convoy is deemed unjustifiable and a violation of the Charter of Rights by the Canadian Federal Court. According to Federal Court Justice Richard Mosley, “I conclude that the decision to issue the Proclamation (of the Emergencies Act) does not bear the hallmarks of reasonableness – justification, transparency, and intelligibility.” In a statement, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said she disagrees with the ruling and intends to appeal the verdict to the court. A number of Canadian lives were destroyed by the emergency act invoked by Trudeau’s Liberal government. Those protesting for their freedom’s return had their bank accounts frozen, were arrested, and were defamed. Although the verdict has been rendered, the Liberal party continues to challenge it now.
