SHOTS FIRED! An attack on a Hellenic Coast Guard vessel by Turkish traffickers

Near Agios Fokas in Lesvos, Turkish traffickers who were trafficking illegal immigrants into Greece were spotted by the Hellenic Coast Guard (HCG).
The altercation turned sideways when the Turks used a firearm and fired shots at the HCG officers. HCG officials in a statement said that “Following this, shots were fired in a safe area by the crew of the Coast Guard patrol boat, resulting in the Turkish fishing boat leaving on an easterly course for the opposite Turkish coast,”. The detailed report was stated as such; The traffickers had landed 25 illegals on Agios Fokas, and once they had noticed a HCG patrol boat incoming they began to open fire and penetrate the Greek vessel. Later a Turkish patrol boat came into Greek EEZ and escorted the traffickers out of the area.
