The body of Kostas Simitis has arrived at the Metropolis of Athens, and the turn out shows the attitude of the Greeks.
The Greek people are in such shame that our traitorous government is declaring a national period of mourning for the even more traitorous former Prime Minister Simitis, and wasting taxpayer money on his funeral. To put it into perspective, the musical band of the municipality of Athens and the few troops of the Armed Forces that are forced to attend, outnumber the people who willingly showed up to see the former traitor at his resting place. Apart from his family, PASOK president and minister Evangelos Venizelos, Kostas Geitonas and Theodoros Tsoukatos, and the entire PASOK Central Committee attended.
No one wishes to respect the traitor who destroyed Greece during his time in office. The former prime minister was responsible for the country’s financial crisis and austerity measures. He was also accused of corruption, nepotism and abuse of power. And let’s not forget, it was Kostas Simitis who was in charge during the disastrous IMIA crisis, which led to the death of Greek soldiers and an embarrassing attempt of strength against the Turkish aggressors. This low turnout shows that the Greeks will not be missing this so-called ‘leader’. Rather than Simitis’ funeral, more people attended the funeral of former dictator Georgios Papadopoulos. While Papadopoulos’ funeral had tens of thousands of Greeks flooding the streets, Simitis had a small group just outside the holy church. Consequently, Kostas Simitis’ legacy remains tainted, and his name will forever be associated with the darkest moments of modern Greece.
