Liberal MP says he was faced with consequences if he voted against Trudeau’s rebate bill

The Liberal MPs are not even clear from Trudeau’s fury! As a Liberal MP breaks his silence about threats from the party.
Following Collins’ claim that he would oppose Trudeau’s $250 rebate bill, a private meeting with the party advised him he would face consequences for opposing Trudeau. It’s not uncommon for parties, all across the world, to push their MPs to vote a specific way or remove them from the party for disobedience. What makes this story bad, is that Trudeau then made claims in parliament that Liberal MPs are free to speak their minds and voice their opinions, even when we have disagreements.” Thus, undermining what he allegedly stands for. How can you say you let your MPs speak their minds, yet present them with consequences for speaking out of term? This contradiction raises questions about the authenticity and transparency of Trudeau’s leadership style. It suggests a potential disconnect between his public statements and the internal dynamics of his party, which could erode trust among MPs and the public. If such discrepancies continue, they might further impact his credibility and the cohesion within the party, leading to challenges in maintaining unified support for his policies.
Collins has made it clear he does not support the bill, so what will happen to his political career remains to be seen.
