Gerapetritis to Diaspora Youth: “it is you who embody the real spirit of Hellenism”

In a speech during the inaugural Greek Youth Diaspora Symposium, the Greek Foreign Affairs Minister, Giorgos Gerapetritis had lots of touching words to say to all Greeks abroad.
“While we may have a capable diplomatic corps, it is you who embody the real spirit of Hellenism. You are young, full of ideas, vision, and sensitivities—not only for national issues but for global challenges: the climate crisis, food security, demographic concerns, meritocracy, peace, and prosperity. You are the soul of Greece,” he said. Gerapetritis announced plans to strengthen ties between Greece and its diaspora, mostly towards the youth. Plans such as a Youth Diaspora Ambassador Program, which was described as a platform for “nurturing young opinion leaders and fostering a new generation of influential Greeks who will contribute to the future of Greece and beyond.” The Minister concluded his statement by saying, “Harness your talents, keep Hellenism close to your heart, and spread the message that Greece is one and exists everywhere.”. This initiative is part of a larger effort to connect Greek youth with their homeland and foster a sense of unity. It is also a way to encourage young people to stay connected to their heritage and support Greece.
