Turkish defence minister Yaşar Güler, made some provocative threats towards Greece, in his speech during the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
Güler argued that Turkey’s position is that in Greece, “no project can proceed without its (Turkey’s) approval.”. Güler used the recent incident at Kasos as an example, where Greek and Italian ships were well within the Greek EEZ, and that made the Turks cry like babies. “The deployment of U.S. military elements in Alexandroupoli affects the strategic balance in the region and directly impacts Türkiye’s security policies. We are closely monitoring these developments and taking necessary diplomatic and military measures to protect our national security interests,” he continued. Güler referenced the idiotic Turkish “blue homeland” as his reasoning for why Greece needs Turkish permission for anything in the Mediterranean. While the entire international community recognizes Greece’s EEZ, the crybaby Turks still whine and complain with empty statements about how their opinion matters in Greek affairs. Greece has every right to protect its national interests and should continue to do so. Güler’s statements are nothing but hot air and should be ignored. Greece should stand firm and stand up to the Turkish threats.
