In recent reports from CTV News, Canadian unemployment is back on the rise, now standing at 6.6%. Statistics Canada reported that the government added around 22,000 jobs in August, but that does not take away all the jobs lost during and after the pandemic due to foreign workers and job difficulties. In Liberal eyes, 22,000 is a win, but we all know that firing hundreds of thousands of workers and then hiring back only small fractions of them is still a loss. Data has shown that these unemployment numbers have not been seen in many years, and yet here they are. Even after Trudeau has backed off immigration, lowered pandemic measures, and done all sorts of things to ‘fix’ the crisis he caused, it still shows how poor the Liberals’ governance is. It’s hard to fix a problem you caused, and it’s even harder to fix it when you are doing it not because you care, but for some votes.
The growth Canada showed in other areas, such as economically, was short lived and was only visible due to the large number of immigrants, but as with every Trudeau plan, it collapsed. CTV News stated that “The rise in unemployment was largest amongst the youth aged 15 to 24 on a year over year basis and the rate of joblessness this summer amongst them was highest in eight years.”
