NDP calls for investigation of “bot posts” during CPC rally

Charlie Angus, NDP MP, calls on the Commissioner of Canada Elections in regards to the worrying number of posts on social media regarding the CPC rally with Pierre Poilievre. The posts from countries all over the globe chanting the same message “still buzzing” may be resulting in election interference, according to Angus. “Are we going to allow offshore bots and mysterious third party operatives to try and influence Canadian points of view and in the lead up to an election,” Angus claimed to reporters. Conservatives responded to the claims stating that these allegations are Liberal plots “to distract from the hunger and homelessness and the economic misery they’ve caused for 9 years,” said Poilievre. There is a clear narrative shift now between the Liberals and the NDP against the CPC, which previously claimed Liberals were causing election fraud and interference by Chinese influence. First the Right blamed the Left, and now the Left uses the same tactics to attack the Right. Dominic LeBlanc said in a statement, “democracies around the world are grappling with the threat of foreign interference,” adding that the government “has robust safeguards in place to protect our democracy.”
